A Collaborative Guide to Teaching at Dickinson

About this Handbook

This guide is meant to provide Dickinson faculty, both seasoned classroom veterans and new colleagues, with a single place to find policy statements, recommendations, and suggestions from colleagues. This guide is also just that, a guide to teaching at Dickinson College. We are proudly pluralistic in our approaches to teaching, so new faculty should feel comfortable finding what works best for them (and their students) in the classroom.

Where there are are institutional policies, such as for Roll Call grades or final examinations, we have provided a link to the policies. We have also collected links to other resources around the Web that faculty might find interesting. Most of those links are found in the blog that accompanies this guide (see the items listed on the right hand side of this page).

This guide will be most useful if faculty take the time to offer comments, suggestions, and critiques of the information and opinions they find here. Raising questions, voicing your opinion, and offering suggestions, via the TCWW blog and comments, are all strongly encouraged. Faculty engagement with this guide will benefit all who teach at Dickinson. Make this guide a repository of good ideas and thoughtful discussion.
